Updated 2026 Season Rulebook Released
Attached here is the updated 2025-2026 College Curling USA Season Rulebook! We’ve kept most items the same after our bigger overhaul last year, but there are a few special changes we want to draw your attention to.
The “Extra Points Waiver” which replaced the emerging regions designation, will now be referred to as the Rule Exemption Waiver (REW). This waiver not only allows teams to earn points for non-college events, but also exempts them from new match play limitations.
Speaking of: match plays will no longer be considered “qualifying events” for the purposes of College Curling USA National Championship eligibility. This means teams must compete in 2 bonspiels during the season to be eligible to compete at nationals. Again, this does not apply to teams that receive the REW.
The REW shall be granted automatically to all schools residing in the West region due to geographical constraints; all other schools interested in applying for REW may apply through the link in the Rulebook.
Some other, more minute changes:
In the case of 3/1 split school teams, all points earned go to the school fielding the 3 players.
A registration deadline must be published alongside registration for all bonspiels.
In the event of a tie between two or more schools for Nationals qualification, the berth shall go to the school with the highest win percentage.
It is our hope that these updated rules continue to ensure a fair, safe, and enjoyable curling experience for all.
